Duties & Role
• Contribute to the development of infrastructure architectures.
• Identify and evaluate alternative architecture options, balancing cost, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Document architecturally significant decisions and design rationale.
• Produce specifications for cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure components, tiers, and interfaces for detailed solution design.
• Support projects and technical change initiatives through the preparation of technical plans and the application of architecture and design principles.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, solution architecture, security, and governance standards.
• Elicit, analyse, and document detailed technical and business requirements using agreed methodologies.
• Review requirements for completeness, accuracy, and consistency, identifying gaps or omissions.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the project requirements baseline.
• Ensure technical solutions are delivered in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods, tools, security, and privacy requirements.
Requirements
• Active NATO SECRET security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with substantial IT content, plus a minimum of 3 years' relevant professional experience.
• Alternatively, candidates without a degree must demonstrate at least 5 years' extensive and progressive experience performing equivalent infrastructure architecture or engineering responsibilities.
• Experience working within distributed technical environments and modern platform delivery practices.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, and containerised deployment models.
• Experience with networking, secure connectivity, and infrastructure constraints within secure or defence environments.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience in site engineering and deployment engineering.
• Experience supporting laboratory and simulation environments.
• Experience administering and supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and associated engineering platforms.
Desirable
• Previous experience working within international environments comprising both military and civilian personnel.
• Knowledge of NATO's organisational structure, governance, and operating environment.
